Paint Protection Film FAQ

Q. What is paint protection film

Paint protection film creates a crystal clear invisible barrier between the surface and the everyday rigours of the outside world. As a result, the underlying surface remains in as new condition for years, as if the vehicle had just left the showroom. It prevents scratches and swirls in the paint when the vehicle is washed and has a higher gloss level than the paint.

This makes it virtually invisible. Whilst stone chips and scratches cannot damage the paint – and that is what matters. PPF is resilient and dampens any impact on the paint from the likes of stones and gravel, branches and desert sand. 90% of everyday damage to paints is prevented with PPF.

Q. What does Paint Protection Film protect?

Paint Protection Film provides protection from rock chips, minor scratches, harmful effects of chemicals, bird droppings, and other roadway hazards.

Paint Protection Film is not designed to stop or prevent damage to the vehicle body. Most films have a self-healing property which is designed to repair itself from swirl marks and light scratches. However, if a piece of debris penetrates this layer of the film the self-healing property will no longer function.

You can have your car repaired and repainted because you had stone chips. However, the originality has now gone – plus the integrity of the vehicle is now in doubt – was it just stone chips or a larger accident? For the same cost, you could have had PPF installed and enjoy driving carefree, without any potential paint damage now or in the future! The vehicle will command a higher value during trade-in or resale.
