Why Kerala’s Climate Is Hard on Car Interiors
Most car owners underestimate how quickly interiors deteriorate in a tropical climate like Kerala’s. The combination of high humidity year-round, intense monsoon rainfall from June through November, and warm temperatures creates ideal conditions for mold, bacteria, and dust mite growth inside vehicles. Wet footwear tracked in during monsoon soaks into carpet and seat foam. Damp clothing and wet umbrellas left in the car add to the moisture load. Within a few months, what started as a faint musty smell can become a persistent odor embedded deep in the seat foam.
Beyond odor, accumulated biological matter — bacteria, mold spores, dust mites — affects air quality inside the cabin. In a closed car with AC running, occupants are breathing recirculated air from an enclosed space that may be significantly more contaminated than the outside air.
What Happens When Interior Dirt Is Left Too Long
The longer staining, moisture, and biological contamination are left in car upholstery, the harder they become to remove and the more damage they cause. Fabric fibers weaken under prolonged mold exposure. Foam padding compresses and deteriorates when consistently damp. Leather dries out and cracks without conditioning, and dye transfer from clothing permanently stains light-colored leather seats over time.
A car that has not been deep cleaned in 2-3 years typically requires the Deep Clean or Deep Clean Plus package to fully address the accumulated contamination — a surface wipe and vacuum will not reach the foam and backing materials where most of the biological matter lives.
What We Clean and How
Our interior detailing process goes well beyond surface cleaning. Foam cleaning is applied to all upholstered surfaces — seats, door linings, floor mats, and roof lining — with professional-grade upholstery shampoo that penetrates the fabric and foam, lifts contaminants, and extracts them. Seat belts are cleaned and checked. All hard surfaces — dashboard, door panels, centre console, and trims — are cleaned and dressed. All glass is cleaned inside. An odor neutralizer is applied to address residual biological odor at the source.
The Deep Clean Plus package additionally removes the front seats entirely from the vehicle for underneath-seat cleaning — an area that accumulates years of debris, moisture, and contamination that is inaccessible with seats in place.
Maintaining Your Interior Between Cleans
The habits that make the biggest difference between professional cleans are simple: remove wet footwear before entering during monsoon, avoid leaving damp umbrellas or wet clothing in the car, vacuum every 2-4 weeks, and wipe hard surfaces with a damp microfibre cloth monthly. These steps slow the accumulation of the organic matter that causes odor and deterioration, extending the time between professional deep cleans significantly.
